great article showing home birth as safe as hospital http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2009-09-03-midwife-home-birth_N.htm
so two days in a row! So I did something that may be a little crazy...I contacted groupon about a possible;e feature with my services...I think that I may be a little nuts! but our mandate is a doula for every woman who wants one...so why not?
ok so I said that I would make Monday's my "business day" and how did that work out...? well It's Tuesday and I am currently writing with a baby on the boob and wee man playing Wii, and Captain Destructo?...well he is roaming the house looking for something to destruct I am sure...
so I am starting out today with a glmour shot of nursing http://girliegirlarmy.com/exclusive/20110514/italian-elle-features-vegans/ she is stunning and fierce to behold! of course my 7 month old is that big but the besides the point!
i still am amazed that so many people have issues with nursing. We live in a society that puts "Jersey Shore" on TV and that is FAR MORE sexually explicit then any nursing mom and babe duo I have ever seen. Even this Christmas, I was with my mom (!) who did not nurse her babies (that means did not nurse me....cries) and we went to the Mayan Exhibit at the ROM (great btw) and I fed baby boy there and she kept trying to cover me up! I mean there was ancient art to behold but clearly all the men where there to look at my boobs! Well I should be flattered I guess that the sight of my nakedness, no matter how obstructed, would turn men on...of course they have fed five kidlets so they are that perky or pretty anymore but... Note to mom...some men are turned on by bums in jeans, skirts, shorts, bathing suits and those are normal. Would you have me run around in a potato sack?
Ok so that was a tangent! On to better things!
I am booking so fast I am sure that God has pointed my career in the right direction. If you are looking for a Doula for the months of Feb, March, April and May I only have 1 Spot left, June is Booked (hopefully going away at the end), July only one spot left and August only one. I won't book past that right now.
Until Next week have a blessed day!
OK I am back in the saddle again...I'm BACK! well I never really left, but I find it harder and harder to sit at the computer and type. I can't imagine why (???!) Mom again to a beautiful baby boy named Gabriel. He weighed 11 lbs 14 oz at birth. I started a little side business helping people bring out there crafty side called Stampin Up! which works great because I am a scrapbooker and card maker so it's about time I did it as a business! Hubby says its just a mess but.... Also started loosely homeschooling this year, and in the fall Nathaniel will start more of a structured curriculum. We also had a major flood, I had a baby, took 7 kids, a dog and my pregnant best friend camping for a week, Andrew was in a motorcyle accident and we had a robbery...and I still managed to help 4 people become families! I love this job! I am promising to update this blog every Monday with links to interesting articles, funny or amusing ancedotes and probably sometimes I may just rant! But thanks for reading and have a blessed day!
here is a great balanced look at home birth. Something to consider whether or not you have a doula. (of course it's much ehttp://www.todaysparent.com/pregnancy/labour/article.jsp?content=20101220_112312_4864&page=1
I love that they named Dr Newman (my hero) he is CANADIAN! a fantastic list wether you are just interested, pregnant and needing answers or having issues either with the act or with people in your life.
This link demonstrates that Doula's let dad concentrate on the most important thing he can do...LOVE MOM! I can help him get some rest, help direct him on how to help I have been there, done that!
Here is a great video about birth choices! Thanks to Gina (a fellow Doula) for the link!
